I’m Chris Pugh, a journalist, editor, and photographer based in Mendocino County, California. I’ve spent years covering small-town stories that connect to larger themes in local government, environmental challenges, the arts, and everyday life on the North Coast.

I’m the Managing Editor of the Fort Bragg Advocate-News and the Mendocino Beacon, and I also serve as Deputy Editor at the Ukiah Daily Journal. I co-founded MEDIUM Art Center, a nonprofit arts space in Ukiah dedicated to supporting local artists and building community.

My writing here blends reporting with reflection. Some posts will focus on local issues, while others connect our community’s experiences to national and global events. Incremental Outcome is a mix of stories, essays, and notes that add up to a larger picture of where we live and how we live.

When I’m not writing or editing, I’m usually photographing rural California, working on community art projects, or hunting down a good cup of coffee.
